Kentlyn is a community of some 300 homes mostly on lots of 5 acres (2 hectares) or more in a mainly scenic rural residential village area. Kentlyn is on a peninsula of land between the eastern section of the City of Campbelltown with the Georges River running along both its eastern and southern borders.

Bushfires which spring up on the Army land across the river can, most times, be allowed to burn themselves out. But when the fires 'jump' the river the problems are big - and dangerous for Kentlyn and through to heavily populated Campbelltown.
